Slow Info
Firestation Arts & Culture is a progressive and proactive arts and cultural organisation based in Windsor. Since 2008 we have run a huge range of projects, from entertainment venue and social space The Firestation, subsidised cultural working space Prime Studios, online arts space Lemonade Gallery and micro-entertainment venue The Hope. We pride ourselves on seeking out and representing brilliant new ideas and ways of working, challenging existing practices and cultural norms and being exciting, in touch and fun to engage with.
We place brave cultural approaches, innovative thinking, entrepreneurial drive and the desire to find sustainable business models at the heart of what we do.
This ethos has been instrumental in; the creation of a range of projects reaching across publishing, live events, research and VR; the Games Walk performance festival and public art trail as part of London2012; the Neon ticketing project a part of the Digital Arts Accelerator; the Neo-Ticketing dynamic pricing research project with the Digital R&D Fund; a number of invitations to present our work and ideas at conferences and in print.
Prime Studios and Lemonade Gallery were established in 2014 and have grown steadily ever since, becoming a community of 13 resident artists and creatives working in film, live events, theatre, illustration, printmaking, painting, literature and digital arts. Our online activities represent a larger group, through virtual events and digital programmes.
Prime Studios provides subsidised work spaces to cultural businesses and creatives and is the only such space in the region.
We have been supported by ACE, Nesta, RBWM, LOCOG, Environment Agency and AHRC.
On Foot & Bike
From Windsor Castle, go straight down Peascod Street (cyclists will have to walk or go round this bit) until you see a right hand turn at Oxford Road (Creams on the corner). Head down here and across the zebra crossing to your left. Now walk down the little cut through with Ward Royal (big block of flats) on your right. When you come out on Alma Road, we’re right there.
By Train
We are a fifteen minute walk from Windsor & Eton Riverside Station (mainline to Waterloo) or ten minutes from Windsor Central Station (shuttle to Slough with mainline to Paddington, Maidenhead and Oxford).
By Bus
We’re well served by buses to and from Windsor, Slough, Bracknell and the surrounding area. Click here for Firstgroup bus route details and a neat interactive route map.
By Car
Follow this link for local car parks – Victoria Street and King Edward Court multistoreys are the closest, and the car park behind Windsor & Eton Riverside station is good for all-day parking.
